Eva Mendes is set to make a comeback after taking a hiatus from acting for years. The actress has revealed, however, that she has a new set of requirements for her future projects.
Mendes appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” during which she talked about returning to acting. She said her Hollywood comeback would depend on the type of role offered to her. “I have such a short list of what I will do,” she said. “Like before kids, I kind of was up for anything — I mean, if it was a fun project. But now I won’t do violence, I don’t want to do sexuality, I don’t want to do… the list is short.”
The last time Mendes appeared on the big screen was almost a decade ago, when she starred in Ryan Gosling’s 2014 directorial debut, “The Lost River.” Asked if she would return to the big screen for a “special project” that does not feature sexuality or violence, the “Ghost Rider” star said, “I hope so. It has to be nice and clean.”
Host Whoopi Goldberg then asked Mendes if she was referring to flicks Disney does. In response, she said, “Disney! Perfect.”
It wasn’t the first time Mendes expressed her interest in appearing in Disney movies. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2020 while promoting “Hitch 2,” she also shared how her criteria for projects have changed since she became a mother.
“Acting is something that I will always love,” she said. “It’s just like now that I have children, I’m kind of extreme. So I’m basically like, ‘Disney, I’m all yours, Disney.’ That’s all that’s left.”
She went on to share the type of Disney role she would like to play. “I’m more of the villain kinda type of girl. I’m more of the Urusla type. I like the villains of the Disney movies. They’re fun,” she said.
There have been rumors that Mendes might return to the “Fast and Furious” franchise now that production for the next installment is underway. She debuted as Monica Fuentes in “2 Fast 2 Furious,” which came out in 2003. She reprised her role in the 2011 movie “Fast Five.”
