BOGOTÁ, Colombia—An organized-crime prosecutor from Paraguay who was on his honeymoon in Colombia was assassinated Tuesday when gunmen arrived by Jet Ski on a private beach where he was relaxing and shot him, his wife and authorities here and in Paraguay said.
Officials from both South American countries expressed shock at the death of Marcelo Pecci, a prosecutor who had led drug and money-laundering cases in Paraguay, a country known as a center of the illegal trade in contraband goods and drugs.
